<p><strong>Role Overview</strong></p>
<p>We are seeking a capable Data Analyst to support the Commercial, Sustainability and Finance teams by transforming data into reliable insight. This role will build and automate key reports, establish consistent data definitions, and produce actionable analytics that drive improvements in performance, forecasting and decision-making. The position is well-suited to a commercially minded analyst with strong analytical skills and a desire to grow into broader responsibilities over time.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p>1. Reporting &amp; Automation</p>
<ul>
<li>Deliver accurate and timely automated reporting for Commercial, Sustainability and Finance teams.</li>
<li>Develop and maintain dashboards covering key metrics such as revenue, margin, costs and performance trends.</li>
<li>Reduce reliance on manual spreadsheets by strengthening data pipelines.</li>
</ul>
<p>2. Data Quality &amp; Definitions</p>
<ul>
<li>Support the standardisation of data definitions and KPI calculations across functions.</li>
<li>Assist with reconciling data discrepancies and improving data accuracy. • Document reporting processes and logic.</li>
<li>Evaluate applicable third-party sustainability systems (traceability) with an eye toward tool optimisation for Falcon’s needs.</li>
</ul>
<p>3. Business Analysis</p>
<ul>
<li>Work with Sales, Sustainability and Finance to understand data needs and translate them into reports or models.</li>
<li>Provide analysis on margin trends, pricing performance, and forecast variance.</li>
<li>Support forecasting and budgeting cycles with reliable datasets and insights.</li>
</ul>
<p>4. Collaboration</p>
<ul>
<li>Partner with teams to understand reporting requirements.</li>
<li>Provide clear written and verbal explanations of insights to non-technical stakeholders.</li>
<li>Contribute to continuous improvement of data processes.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Skills &amp; Experience</strong></p>
<p>Essential</p>
<ul>
<li>2–4 years’ experience in data analysis, business intelligence or commercial analytics.</li>
<li>Strong Excel skills with advanced formula knowledge.</li>
<li>Proficient in SQL for querying relational databases.</li>
<li>Experience using BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik or similar.</li>
<li>Ability to translate business questions into analytical outputs.</li>
<li>Strong attention to detail and ability to manage data accuracy.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Desirable</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience with Python (for data manipulation and automation) and/or R.</li>
<li>Prior exposure to ERP or CRM systems (e.g. NetSuite, Salesforce).</li>
<li>Experience of financial reporting processes.</li>
<li>Basic understanding of data modelling concepts.</li>
</ul>

<p>Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority is seeking the services of an ICT and Data Management Officer to play a key role in overseeing its ICT contract and contractual payment mechanism. Reporting directly to the Data and Performance Manager, the successful postholder will drive the Authority on its mission to maintain a high-standard ICT service whilst delivering a verification system for the contractual payment process and developing business intelligence.</p>

<p>Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority (operating as Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority) is a strategic waste and resource management authority, leading on the recycling and management of municipal waste across the Liverpool City Region.</p>
<p>Along with its private sector partners, Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority (MRWA) manages waste resources, recycling and the transportation of waste on behalf of six district councils across Liverpool City Region including Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral.</p>
<p>With a focus on reducing consumption, reusing more and recycling accepted materials in the right manner, the Authority delivers various behavioural change initiatives for residents and organisations across Liverpool City Region, and this is reflected in its Vision:</p>
<p><strong>“To ensure that we reduce the impact of our actions on climate change and improve the sustainable management of waste and resources.”</strong></p>
<p>The Authority serves more than 1.5 million people, providing 16 Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) across Liverpool City Region, as part of its contract with Veolia UK. The local HWRCs allow householders to recycle more than 40 different materials. MRWA also manages the processing of the co-mingled recycling collected at kerbside by five of the six district councils, which is sorted via its two Materials Recovery Facilities.</p>

<p><strong>About You</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>You will hold a degree or educational equivalent qualification in a field relevant to the role (additional professional qualifications are advantageous).</li>
<li>You will be a strategic thinker with a strong working knowledge of the waste industry (or a keen willingness to develop a strong knowledge of the waste industry).</li>
<li>You will possess a professional and personable demeanour, with the ability to liaise effectively with different key stakeholders.</li>
<li>You will be a good team player with the ability to adapt quickly and work with minimum supervision.</li>
<li>You will be committed towards continuing professional development, partaking in relevant training initiatives and networking opportunities as and when required.</li>

<p><strong>Essential Skills / Experience</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Excellent record of building and maintaining client/contractor relationships, with demonstrated success in delivery of ICT strategies and overseeing service provision contracts.</li>
<li>In depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure, with experience of document/record retention systems.</li>
<li>Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with experience in data cleansing, transformation, and validation for analysis and reporting purposes.</li>
<li>Have an awareness/understanding of emerging technologies and deployment of digital tools to achieve efficiencies across an organisation.</li>
<li>Proficient in risk mitigation and security of digital assets, experience of Cyber Essential Plus accreditation and of liaising between client and contractor through a business continuity/cyber-attack.</li>
<li>Ability to read and understand complex payment mechanisms and produce verification measures.</li>
<li>Experience of analysing data for large, complex contract payments.</li>
<li>Proven track record for identifying information flows and documentation of processes.</li>

<li>Provide oversight of the security incident management process.</li>
