Description

In this senior position within the Information and Communication Technologies team, you’ll oversee the development and operation of systems undergoing continuous improvement and release. Ensure the high availability of operational services and contribute tactical and operational expertise. Define and implement infrastructure standards and policies, and lead the design and delivery of projects aligning with business requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage an international, multi-site production infrastructure, including design, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security.
• Tasks involve administering Infrastructure services and Operational Support Systems (OSS), maintaining a highly available resilient environment, and regularly patching and upgrading software.
• Formalize designs, configurations, and procedures for system and storage administration, identify and resolve system incidents, and collaborate with software developers to ensure proper development processes.
• Ensure systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats, contribute significantly to the design and implementation of new solutions, and provide input into the department’s strategic direction for infrastructure, architecture, and operations.
• Monitor and maintain equipment and systems for maximum performance, security, and integrity, establish baselines for system performance and capacity planning.
• Offer tools for data-driven decisions (Elastic Stack, Graphite, Grafana), deliver highly available and reliable solutions (HAProxy, Keepalived), and optimize existing tools and processes as part of continuous service improvement.
• Responsible for the implementation and release of system and application changes with relevant change controls, handle backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery of systems.
• Participate in the on-call rota for 24×7 services, supporting out-of-office hours’ emergency support and routine maintenance. The service is delivered throughout the HYLAS fleet footprint, and occasional international travel is required.

Profile

Skills & Qualifications:

Essential
. Demonstrable experience managing, troubleshooting, and tuning Linux and Windows systems;
. Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills;
. Linux and Windows configuration, management, optimization, and administration;
. Strong knowledge of Scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl, Powershell);
. Experience with Virtualization, Containerization, and related provisioning tools (ESXi, vCenter, Docker);
. Understanding of agile software development, continuous deployment, and DevOps culture;
. CI/CD and Version control (Jenkins, G.IT);
. A good understanding of TCP/IP Networking and networking tools such as DNS, tcpdump, and radius;
. Experience in automated test coverage, code quality checks (lint), and software metric generation;
. Working with Internet technologies such as Firewalls, Load Balancing, Proxies, and services clustering;
. Experience with distributed service monitoring (SNMP, Shinken/Nagios);
. Experienced with automation tools and infrastructure as code. (Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, YAML, Python);
. Experience with modern database systems (MySQL, ElasticSearch, MongoDB);
. Experience with cloud and cloud migration (AWS, Azure, GCP);
. Extensive experience in security hardening Servers and network equipment, including certificate management;
. Excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time;
. Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable
. Windows or Linux certifications;
. Network certifications or equivalent experience;
. Cloud provider certifications or equivalent experience;
. Experience with AWS/S3;
. Experience in telecommunications or satellite industry;
. Understanding of large-scale web environments within a geographically distributed infrastructure.

Job Offer

This role is offering up to £80,000 per annum for the perfect candidate + 10% Bonus
