Sr. Director, Industry Analysis

This role provides the opportunity for an industry expert to serve as the thought leader for Opensignal’s public-facing insights and the external spokesperson for Opensignal’s suite of products and solutions. The Sr. Director, Industry Analysis, will utilize industry knowledge, analysis and relationships to develop a forward looking content strategy that engages press, enterprise customers and industry stakeholders. In this role you will be able to leverage Opensignal’s proprietary market-leading datasets that provide highly granular near-real time telecom market and network intelligence on many markets throughout the world.

The ideal candidate will bring a global perspective and deep industry knowledge that will enable them to effectively lead our UK based industry analysis team. The Sr. Director, Industry Analysis will report to the VP, Market Analytics & Insights, and will lead our public insight production team. The role will require up to 20% travel internationally with the ability to flex hours in order to collaborate effectively with our teams around the globe.

Core Responsibilities:

• Drive the industry insights strategy within the organization to ensure that communications are consistent across all platforms. Chair the internal editorial board to ensure sufficient input and feedback that leads to highly influential reports
• Serve as the external spokesperson for Opensignal; representing the company in a variety of forums, from trade shows and conventions to meetings with CxOs and industry leaders. You will bring both independent industry knowledge while also having an ability to convey Opensignal’s value prop to build/strengthen relationships that influence sales
• Stay ahead of industry trends and lead our efforts to define and deliver thought leadership that supports our company brand position and supports our competitive differentiation; provide internal education, as needed, to help us maintain our industry leading position

Required Knowledge and Skills:

We are seeking extraordinary individuals with high IQ, EQ, and AQ (adversity quotient) but who are also humble, lifelong learners with a growth mindset. The ideal candidate has:

• A comprehensive understanding of the telecom industry , including competitive dynamics in multiple global markets, mobile technology knowledge, broadband technology knowledge, and a good sense of how telecom operators marry technology and go-to-market decisions to differentiate themselves. They should be able to analyze and interpret complex industry data and identify key trends and drivers that impact telecom companies’ performance including but not limited to network and commercial performance metrics.
• Strong communication and presentation skills that enable the candidate to act as a spokesperson who represents Opensignal insights in public forums and in front of clients and industry analysts. They articulate complex data insights in a clear and concise manner, tailoring their communication to different audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven experience in conducting research with high-quality insights on the telecom industry that gain media and customer attention is highly desired.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills. The candidate should be able to motivate, guide, and mentor a team of analysts to produce high-quality research and reporting.
• Understanding of the telecom trade press . The candidate should have experience working in or with the telecom trade press, ideally in multiple global markets. The candidate should have a good feel for what appeals to press and enterprise telecom customers.

Essential Experiences:

• 7+ years of experience covering the telecom industry . This experience should encompass exposure to various types of telecom data, analytics techniques, and commercial applications.
• 1+ years experience managing reporters or analysts, with a track record of successfully guiding teams in conducting research, analyzing data, and producing high-quality reports.
• A demonstrated ability to produce impactful, engaging writing on the telecom industry that attracts the attention of industry stakeholders .
